Kathmandu Gorkhas Unleash David Warner in Season Opener
For the thousands of supporters packing the Kirtipur terraces this afternoon, the wait to see the Kathmandu Gorkhas in Season 3 is finally over. Led domestically by fiery Nepal fast bowler Karan KC and dependable middle-order batter Bhim Sharki, the Gorkhas boast the single biggest overseas signing in Nepali cricket history: former Australian opener and T20 World Cup champion David Warner.
Fresh and well-rested after watching the opening four matches from the dugout, Kathmandu will look to capitalize on Kirtipur’s favorable daytime batting conditions and launch their campaign with two points in front of an electric home crowd.
Janakpur Bolts Desperate to Rebound From Opening Defeat
Across the pitch, the Janakpur Bolts enter this afternoon’s clash needing an immediate batting resurgence. In Tuesday evening’s opener against Karnali Yaks, Janakpur’s bowlers executed an admirable bowling performance, restricting Karnali to 132/9 behind skipper Harmeet Singh (3/22) and two wickets apiece from Moeen Ali and Rahul Yadav. However, their batting order collapsed for 113 all out, falling 19 runs short.
To avoid dropping to an 0–2 hole, Janakpur will rely heavily on Nepal opener Anil Sah and international stars Moeen Ali, Jimmy Neesham, and Iftikhar Ahmed to counter Karan KC’s new-ball swing, while left-arm spinner Lalit Rajbanshi will be crucial in containing David Warner inside the mandatory powerplay.
Evening Clash: Karnali Yaks vs Biratnagar Kings at 5:00 PM NPT
Once the dust settles on this afternoon’s clash, the Kirtipur floodlights will power up Tonight · 5:00 PM NPT for Match 6. The contest pits an unbeaten Karnali side—fresh from their 19-run win over Janakpur—against Andre Russell and Sandeep Lamichhane’s Biratnagar Kings, who are eager to bounce back from a narrow 8-run defeat to Chitwan Rhinos.
